The New York Times examined the unique challenges that workers with “physical jobs” face in retirement, as they are often unable to continue in their jobs indefinitely. Commonwealth's Timothy Flacke weighed in, noting that physical work is strongly correlated with lower-income work.
“There’s a strong correlation between physically demanding work and lower-income work,” he said. “Lower-income workers are financially stressed, and they have very little in retirement savings.”
