Kia McCallister-Young

Associate Director, Project & Marketing Strategy

Kia is an Associate Director of Project & Marketing Strategy at Commonwealth. In this role she designs full spectrum messaging and marketing strategies for external partnerships, within our pilots, and supports the staff with marketing resources that expand our impact. Prior to joining Commonwealth, Kia founded a branding and marketing firm and leveraged her communications expertise as the Director of a national nonprofit that increased the financial confidence of low to moderate income earners, where she also became an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC®).

Kia’s previous life experiences and intersectional background—including proudly serving in the US Air Force, working in the housing industry, and being Mom to 3 children, one of which has special needs—allows her to bring a deep sense of understanding, empathy, and practicality to her work. “I know that my life’s purpose is to move people to action through compelling messaging and storytelling. I’m thrilled to be able to do that at Commonwealth, contributing to the tremendous mission of an organization who never loses sight of who we are working for and how it influences generations, policies, and systems. I feel really grateful to work here.” Kia lives in Maryland with her children and Black Goldendoodle, Loki.
