The availability of financial aid in the form of loans, grants, and scholarships can make college attendance a viable opportunity for high school students, but understanding how to access such aid requires financial capability and specific knowledge that can be lacking. Commonwealth designed a college financial readiness solution to this challenge. The goal of “Ramp It Up,” a gamified app, is to give students both knowledge about available resources and the ability to take action to access and utilize those resources. Ramp It Up is an example of an innovation that began as an idea, was developed with consumer input, and piloted with its target user group. This report describes the pilot and the findings from the evaluation of that pilot.
