Consumer Engagement: Helping People Want What They Need

This is a breakout session at the 2016 Assets Learning Conference (ALC).

Behavior change is hard work. It’s even tougher to help other people change behaviors – especially when the people you aim to support are stressed about their financial lives and have heavy demands on their time. Yet this is the work people in the asset-building and financial empowerment field take on every day. In this session, you’ll learn about a new framework for thinking about this challenge called Consumer Engagement. We’ll discuss how to recognize and harness what consumers desire and need, and to do so in the service of supporting new behaviors and achieving financial empowerment. The discussion will also explore how the same basic engagement framework applies when one nonprofit organization seeks to partner with another. Join a lively, interactive workshop that will challenge you to think afresh about how you think about and engage all types of consumers. This session is sponsored by MetLife Foundation.

Commonwealth Executive Director Tim Flacke is a presenter at this event.
